Phil Bower, the owner of Rational Nutrition has over 40 years experience in this field. Phil has professional qualifications in animal health, nutrition and welfare as well as practical experience in veterinary practices, wildlife, including 10 years as wildlife supervisor at Waratah Park, training the animals for "Skippy the bush Kangaroo" series in the 60's & 70's. He has also owned and operated a successful horse stud, standing both thoroughbred and standardbred sires and has trained several winning racehorses.
Phil has a successful consultancy business catering to leading Merino Studs, Sharlea Sheep producers, Beef Cattle Studs, Equine Studs and recently Camelid Breeders and Goat Breeders. It was lack of suitable product on the market for the needs of his clients in the early 1990's that led Rational Nutrition to have some products manufactured.
In April 1999, Rational Nutrition expanded its manufacturing ability and product lines and Vitalick and Stockguard brands were added to the existing product range. The factory was fitted out to enable Rational Nutrition to have the ability to produce a large range of blocks, both salt based and molasses based. Also, loose mixes, dry licks, pre mixes and complete feeds were also able to be manufactured on site.
We take personal interest in, and know most of our clients and their stock situation, so we are able to offer "just that little bit more" in product and service.....
Phil Bower is in demand as a speaker on nutritional matters at many field days, youth cattle camps and T.A.F.E Beef Cattle Courses. He writes nutritional articles for the Charolais Annual, Poll Hereford Tech Report and the Red Poll Annual. He is also and experienced cattle and horse judge, presiding at many northern agricultural shows.
